Garry Carter founded the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers in 1996 with his wife June Carter. Since then, he has remained a passionate advocate for bookkeepers and their role in the success of small businesses. In his current role at ICB, Garry oversees the professional standards team and is responsible for overseeing, inspecting and maintaining the high standards expected of ICB bookkeepers.  A key part of this role is liaising with government bodies to ensure that the interests of bookkeepers are represented at a policy level. Garry is also responsible for keeping members up to date with the latest MLR regulations.

Laura and Clare both own award-winning ICB Bookkeeping Practices. Laura started her practice in  October 2019 to earn extra income while working as a finance assistant whilst still having the flexibility to work around her three children. Clare began her practice in 2020, balancing it with her family life. Clare won the LUCA award for new practice in 2020 and small practice in 2022, while Laura won the small practice award in 2023. They have co-chaired the ICB Lincolnshire  and Nottinghamshire Branch since 2021, valuing the community support. Laura serves on the ICB Advisory Council, and Clare recently joined the ICB Tech  Advisory Council.

Kathryn Frimond runs virtual bookkeeping practice Your Local Bookkeeper which specialises in supporting purpose-led, ethical, and sustainable businesses with accounting needs.

Deeply committed to sustainability, Kathryn has aligned her business practices with environmental responsibility. Jess spent over 3 years in practice as a cloud accountant where she trained small businesses on Xero and connected apps. Jess is now a Senior Education Specialist at Xero and she is dedicated and passionate about helping accountants, bookkeepers and small businesses succeed with Xero and hearing all the love shared by our Partners and small business users.
